Wetzel’s Pretzels is a longtime dream come true for co-founder of the company, Rick Wetzel.  Now a large corporate franchise, the company started out in 1994 as an idea (along with a secret recipe) and has evolved into a successful business venture.  Rick, along with Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder, Bill Phelps, brought his passion for pretzels to realization through the creation of Wetzel’s Pretzels.

With nearly 300 stores globally, the company continues to grow.  The company is currently owned by a private equity firm, but the strong management team oversees multiple franchise locations, often found in shopping malls across the United States.  The organization was founded in Redondo Beach, California and the company headquarters now lies in Pasadena.

In each store, they offer more than just mouthwatering pretzels.  You will also find fresh lemonade and other snack options.  Conveniently located in food courts across the country, this team is ready to offer their customers the perfect snack to keep shoppers energized.  Their dedication to the quality of their products is superior.  To show their commitment to the highest quality pretzels, it is company policy to not serve a pretzel that is more than thirty minutes old.

Over the years, the company has built a solid reputation by consistently serving the best of the best pretzels to each of its customers.  Franchise opportunities are available to those interested in joining the management team.  Information is available on the company website to entrepreneurs abroad in hopes to further expand the footprint of the Wetzel’s Pretzels.

Wetzel’s Pretzels Interview Questions

What makes a good boss? Speak generally and only name attributes that would benefit all workers. Stick to personality traits that would be desirable of a boss in any industry, and not simply in one field, particularly if the field is highly specialized. The following characterizations are probably applicable to suggest in most circumstances: being reasonable, not taking oneself too seriously, treating employees with respect, and creating high levels of productivity and quality work.

Why are you looking for a new job? Interviewers want to know if you have a legitimate reason for leaving your last position, and if you left on friendly terms. No matter what, answer this question with a positive attitude! Be truthful, and focus on the aspects of your previous job and demonstrate that the only reason that you are interviewing now is for growth, expansion, etc. Discuss how the job for which you are interviewing would provide you with those new possibilities, and how you are excited to learn and achieve higher success.

Are you willing to put the interests of the organization ahead of your own? The only correct answer to this question is a clear yes. Do not answer this question in an emotional or thoughtful way. This question is direct and designed to test your commitment to the company. The interviewers want to know if you can be a team player and not be selfish, if you can generously offer your skills to their projects, to your coworkers, to their deadlines, etc.

How well do you work with others? Show that you offer positive social interactions by providing specific instances of how you worked well with others in interdependent projects. Avoid discussing accomplishments and instead, focus on how you have a supportive, enthusiastic attitude toward others, that you communicate well, and that you foster an environment of connectedness and achievement.

How will you remedy your lack of experience? Be truthful and if it is applicable, say that you have all the necessary experience to be an asset to their company. If you do lack experience, make sure to say that you will advance swiftly and will make the effort to get up to speed. If you have additional background knowledge that you have not yet discussed or noted in your application, address your knowledge and discuss why it is relevant, even if not conventional, to the position.
