Lancome Paris is a luxury perfume and cosmetics brand that operates internationally as a part of L’Oreal Luxury Products. It was founded in 1935 and became a subsidiary of L’Oreal in 1964. The company was founded and is based in France. It is listed on Forbes World’s Most Value Brands with a value of $6.2 billion.

Armand Petitjean founded the company as a fragrance house inspired by the castle Le Chateau de Lancosme. Roses near the castle inspired the brand’s symbol, which is a single golden rose. Armand Petitjean launched the company’s first five fragrances at the World’s Fair in Brussels in 1935. The following year, he added skin cream, and from there, continued to expand to include make-up, cosmetics, and skin products.

Although Armand Petitjean declared that the company would never need to advertise, it uses many celebrities to promote its brand. For instance in 2012, the company showed a television advertisement with Betty Boop and supermodel Daria Werbowy. In addition, fragrances are associated with famous perfumers, including Alain Astori, Annick Menardo, and Daniela Roche-Andrier.

Currently, this company is considered the top brand in luxury cosmetics. In addition to its focus on quality, it is focused on beauty empowerment.
