Sur La Table Application & Careers

sur la table

Founded in 1972 by Shirley Collings, Sur La Table is a kitchen retail shop that has grown to over 100 stores in 30 different states. She sold the company in 1995 and it is currently owned by Investcorp. In recent years, the company has refined its store placement and also the various ways to reach its customer base.

Stores are targeted to be built in upscale areas anchored by organic centered grocery stores, in the hopes of attracting customers with creative interests. By offering a wide variety of kitchen implements, they hope to pull in those people for whom dining is both a necessity and an art.

Sur La Table offers detailed ideas for their customers to take home. In addition to hosting cooking classes, the gourmet kitchenware company has developed its own cook book line. It is possible to create classes, too, if one has ideas that are not covered by the existing format.

For potential customers who don’t live near a physical location, Sur La Table has increased its internet presence. They can be found on Instagram, posting delicious pictures of dishes to tempt the palette. Pinterest offers creative inspiration as well. Finally, Facebook has a Sur La Table profile filled with ideas and gorgeous pictures, as well.

Today, rituals like making coffee or having friends over for drinks and dinner can be made into wonderful, soothing practices that offer a simpler kind of joy. Being creative about doing the things we do every day is a way to feel inspired.

Sur La Table Interview Questions

Why should we give you the opportunity to work with us? You want to give your potentially new employee the confidence that you will not let them down under any circumstances and that you will ensure that you do a good job. They do not want to be in the position where they have to r-advertise the job again because you have not bothered to show up at work on time or have failed to follow their procedures. They need to be able to trust you.

What was the reason that you have for wanting to work for this organisation? You can explain how you saw the job online and you saw some positive reviews about the company and you thought that it would be a good opportunity. You may have been recommended the company by a friend who has worked for them in the past. This is a good point to mention.

How well do your skills match this job? Are there any other jobs that you have identified that match closer? This is another question that is designed to determine how serious you are about this particular job and if you were offered another job that you wouldn’t leave straightaway. You have to reassure your potential employer that you are seriously interested and that you believe that most/if not all of the skills that you have match to their requirements for the advert on the job.

Do you work well as a team member? Use your previous experience to guide you through this question. It is probably hoped that you will engage with other people on a day to day basis – especially if your role requires it. If you are not a forward thinker or able to socialize then this may let you down in your communication skills.
